Convergent Engineering Design (CED) is a mechanical design and development company based in Crewe, U.K.

There are three branches to the business:

• Bespoke mechanical engineering solutions to customer requirements.
We have wide in-house expertise in mechanical design – particularly precision mechanisms – allied to 3D CAD capability. Partnerships with others allow us to offer complete solutions including control electronics and software, as appropriate. Please enquire if you have a particular requirement.

• Friction Feeder Products
We have developed two friction feeders, both including Thickness Compensating separator technology. These products are licensed for sale and manufacture to Vacuumatic Ltd. of Colchester, U.K. For more detail about these feeders, visit the Products page, or the Vacuumatic website.
In addition, complementing the feeder products, there is a current in-house development concerning a major redesign of an automated banding system.

• Machine Systems using the friction feeder as a basis.
For example, we can add a barcode scanner or OCR camera to the output from the feeder for verification purposes. There is also a divert option for out-sorting rejected items and there are alternative options for the output stream.
Additional hardware and/or control systems are available if assistance is required for the integration of the feeder with other equipment.
